Sensual Somatics for Fat People

This free online gathering is for fat folx who want to deepen their connection with their fat and explore it as an access point to sensual and embodied presence. This is a space for fat folx who have a hunch that exploring touch and fat together might help us all get a little more free. This is a space for fat folx who want to play in FAT/NESS, FAT/NESS being the materiality of fat tissue infinitely multiplied by the sensual & energetic experience of being surrounded by other fat people.
We are offering this free online gathering so that anyone who wants to explore Touch, Fat and Touching Fat can! While we are very excited to be offering In Person spaces to explore Sensual Somatics, we understand that not everyone can make it to these live gatherings. We want this work to be accessible and available to everyone who wants it.
Please read through the guidelines below. By Registering you agree to these guidelines.
I will act as a safe community member by:
I will hold anything shared in the group as 100% confidential (Do not share the identities, stories or experiences of other people that you see at Touching Fat.)
I will keep the focus on myself and my own practice.
I will hold the other participants with the best positive regard.
If something in the gathering happens that makes me feel unsafe or has a negative impact on me I will reach out to Scarlet and/or Jules immediately.
I understand that this is an anti-oppressive space with a zero tolerance policy for acts or speech of supremacy and prejudice.
If I am late, I will jump in where I can. Scarlet and Jules will catch me up when they can.
I will attend sessions from a physical space that feels private and conducive to somatic practice; If I can’t do this I will keep my video off.
I understand that having my camera on is not necessary, but that it can add a great deal of depth to the session.
Because this space is for exploration and not emotional processing:
I will not push myself beyond my safe edge. If something feels emotionally challenging I will dial the practice back, ask for a modification or take a break.
I will keep my reflections focused on the practice and its impact on my current embodied experience. I will not share personal histories or details from my past. If context feels necessary to your share keep it brief and general. Example of appropriate reflection: “I am currently struggling in my romantic relationship and I could feel some of my resentment that was stuck in my chest shift and dissolve during that practice. The shaking and jumping specifically was really helpful.” Example of reflection not appropriate for this space: “Recently my partner cheated on me and I moved out of my home and I’ve been in a major depression because this has triggered by abandonment issues from my mother cheating on my father and leaving when I was a kid. I could feel this practice free up some of that heaviness…”
I acknowledge that if I am not able to meet any of the group agreements Scarlet and Jules can remove me from the space at any time.
I understand that I will receive the zoom link 24 hours before the session.
