Somatic Pods

Somatic Pods are small, facilitated groups of 4-5 people that meet weekly on zoom to practice therapeutic somatics together - process, explore and practice embodied inquiry. We are social beings biologically wired to connect AND many of us have traumatic experiences associated with family, friends, groups, work places, and society at large. Building relationships with a trauma history can be difficult. Pods provide a solid, trauma informed container in order to create positive group experiences. Your nervous system changes and grows through experience. With a painful attachment history, telling yourself you are safe with others usually won’t cut it. You have to experience that safety in order for your soma to really believe it and for protective patterning to shift.

Somatic Pods are a powerful place to integrate and continue your healing journey. While one on one healing spaces can be transformative, facilitated groups offer a way to explore your relational patterns in a therapeutic container that more accurately mimics your every day life. This makes it easier to incorporate the new skills learned in healing spaces into your day to day lived experience. Additionally. participants receive support from Scarlet and three to four other pod members creating a robust offering of care and loving witness that goes beyond the typical client / practitioner model.

Over the past two years of facilitating pod work I have found these spaces to be hugely beneficial for individuals who have complex relational trauma, have trouble trusting themselves and others, and who long to feel tracked, loved and held by a community. Somatic Pods offer a reparative space to be vulnerable, authentic, emotional, embodied, playful, and in a process of healing alongside other people facing similar challenges.

In addition to weekly group practice sessions, participants meet with Scarlet monthly for one-on-one coaching and have access to a weekly drop in practice space for the larger Into the Deep Community.  Each pod commits to meet for 5 months and many continue longer than that.

Pods often become hugely important, anchoring parts of people’s lives and have many positive benefits that grow over time.

“I didn't realize the power of healing in community until I was really doing the work in the pod. It has been such a magical alchemy that allows me to co-regulate, to grow through my fear of vulnerability, to witness others and to be witnessed. I didn't know this kind of healing was possible until experiencing it in the pod. “

“I am developing a much deeper understanding of what it means to be in a co-healing environment and how necessary, subversive and powerful it is. I never thought this kind of space would be possible through zoom, across the world, but it is. The pod is something I deeply look forward to every week. Even when it is challenging and confronting it is expansive.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in a Somatic Pod Session?

Pod sessions prioritize practice over processing so most sessions offer at least two practices for grounding and resilience. Some sessions are geared towards building resource for participants, other sessions are focused on diving deep into a specific topic.

What can I expect t in a somatic pod one-on-one session?

One-on-one sessions are a place to check in with Scarlet about your experience in the pod. These sessions help you get clear how to best approach pod sessions to support your current life circumstances and needs.

What about zoom? Does it actually work for somatic practice and community building?

I am a firm believer that the best somatic work happens when we feel safe and supported. For many, practicing therapeutic somatics from the comfort of your own home creates the safety and support needed to dive deep and get vulnerable. Additionally, zoom creates the opportunity to work with folks who are not directly in your community that share your values and similar life experience.
